La Familia Latino Outreach

Providing culturally responsive support, connection, and resources for Latino individuals and families in our community.

What is La Familia?

The La Familia Program is dedicated to restoring dignity and supporting the well-being of Latino individuals and families across Peoria.

Through culturally responsive, bilingual services, we provide support across all stages of life. From children to seniors, we help individuals navigate challenges, access resources, and build stability in their lives. Led by our La Familia Director, Catalina Zavala, this program provides hands-on, personalized support to individuals and families, especially those who are new to the community. This support includes:

  • Language services

  • Immigration and legal assistance

  • Victim support

  • Basic needs and income support

  • Adult education and financial literacy

  • Workforce readiness

  • Healthcare access support

We believe that immigrants, refugees, undocumented individuals, and those native to the United States are all vital members of our community, and that supporting others strengthens us all.

What We Provide:

  • Transportation to medical and other essential appointments

  • Translation and language support

  • Assistance with legal and immigration-related documents

  • Access to basic needs (clothing, shoes, etc.)

  • Guidance navigating healthcare and community resources

"Aquí, todos son familia."

Por Amor

Por Amor is a community crochet group within the La Familia Program. They meet weekly to crochet blankets and share meals. Each year, they donate all of their handmade blankets (crocheted with love!) to a hospital or organization in need.
